Voter Information

Vote By Mail

Any Registered Voter can use an Absentee Ballot to vote. If you will be out of town on November 7th or if you are home but would prefer a more convenient way to cast your vote, use this link to the application for a Vote by Mail Form (Absentee Ballot).

Please note that this is a 2-step process.

  • You must complete the Application for the Vote by Mail Form and send to Somerset Co. Board of Elections Office.
  • After it is processed, you will receive a ballot in the mail to cast your vote and send back or drop off.

A voter may apply for a Mail-In Ballot by mail up to 7 days (Oct 28th) prior to the election. He or she may also apply in person to the County Clerk until 3 P.M. the day before the election, November 6rd.

Completed Vote by Mail Ballots must be returned County Clerk by 8 pm on day of election, November 7th.

Registration Deadline is 21 days before an election. The last day to register for this General Election is October 17, 2017.

VOTER INFORMATION - 2017 General Election
Oct 17 Voter registration deadline for citizens currently not registered to vote in their municipalities.
Oct 31 Deadline for county clerks to receive applications by mail for vote-by-mail ballots.
Nov 6 Deadline for applying in person to the county clerk for a vote-by-mail ballot (up to 3 p.m.)
Nov 7 General Election. All vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the County Board of Election by the close of polls (8 p.m.) on election day.
